A day of FREE Workshops and Dancing in the Large Pavilion, Stewart Park, Ithaca No Experience Needed - No Partner Required Bring your friends! SWING DANCE w DJ TOM PEPE 7:00 - 9:30 pm A favorite of the Central New York swing scene, Tom will serve up a variety of swing tunes for most every taste and style. 1:30 - 3:00 pm: Intro to WALTZ with Richard Eshelman This is an elegant and joyful partner dance that became the first world dance craze! 3:00 - 4:00 pm: Intro to the SHIM SHAM with Amanda Bartley This group line dance from the 30s is still popular with lindy hoppers! 4:00 – 5:00 pm: Intro to WEST COAST SWING with Rich Curtis Slower, smooth style swing ,perfect for modern popular music like R&B, blues, club, country, smooth jazz and pop music. PICNIC DINNER (Dish-to-Pass) 5:00 – 6:00 pm Folks are encouraged to share food. Bring your own plates and silver, etc. 6:00 – 7:00 pm: Intro to 6-COUNT SWING with Cindy Overstreet Also known as East Coast Swing and Jitterbug, this is a great foundation dance - easy to learn and fun to do! 7:00 - 9:30 SWING DANCE w DJ TOM PEPE A favorite of the Central New York swing scene, Tom will serve up a variety of swing tunes for most every taste and style. ALL FREE! The LARGE PAVILION at Stewart Park is an enclosed structure with a beautiful wooden floor. The many wide doors will be open to allow the breezes to waft through.
